<P>In the effective use of land, the step up from producing foodstuffs on a horticultural scale is to consider cultivating whole fields with one crop. The most widely grown crop is grass which is harvested by man or beast and eventually becomes part of a food-producing chain.</P> <P>Producing food is what land use is about, although attention is sometimes given to the leisure aspect of land use or to the wildlife it supports.
